Olympia, WA Day Trip Guide- Cherry Blossom Season

You have NO IDEA how excited I am to bring you my Day Trip Guide for Olympia, Washington! Growing up in Lake Tapps, WA and having family in Aberdeen & Hoquaim, WA in Grays Harbor meant we were often meeting in Olympia as a halfway point. Naturally, I grew to love visiting the city and there are SO many hidden gems that people sleep on. These spots are a cumulation of years of experience of finding the places I love most!

March was a packed month for me with business in both as a Realtor® and as a photographer & brand editor. I rarely had a day off (or at least in full). So last week, I saw the opportunity to get out of town and head to Olympia with my camera for some “me time”. I love that being a photographer gives me so many opportunities- but we can’t forget how nice it is to simply have as a personal hobby to capture the beauty I see through my lens.

Cherry blossom season is in full bloom over on the Washington State Capitol grounds & the various bulbs- tulips, daffodils, grape hyacinths and more are still showing off. A typical spring day full of sun, scattered showers and even a bit of a wind storm at the end, I was still able to meander the Capitol grounds without getting drenched and eventually found my way inside the Legislative Building during a rain shower.

It’s been years since I was inside, and I had no idea that you could (mostly) freely wander the main parts of the building. The Tiffany chandelier is absolutely breathtaking and is apparently the largest one Tiffany has ever designed. Surprisingly painted in delicate pinks, whites, gold and adorned in marble and shining metals, the American Renaissance style of the Capitol is a place after my heart!

Of course, Olympia is a place to live for many, but for those of us a little further north, it’s also the perfect spot for a day trip! Whether you’re alone, with company or kids- there are easily so many things to find to do.

Click on the banner at the top of this post (or here) and snag a PDF I’ve put together of my favorite spots!

If you made it all of the way to the end- thank you so much for staying with me and reading along!

-Andrea
